MESSAGE NOTES
"I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. You will have suffering in this world. Be courageous! I have conquered the world.” {John 16:33}
1: WE GRIEVE
Jesus wept. {John 11:35}
2: WE GRIEVE HONESTLY
My tears have been my food day and night, while all day long people say to me, “Where is your God? ” {Psalms 42:3}
Why, my soul, are you so dejected? Why are you in such turmoil? Put your hope in God, for I will still praise him, my Savior and my God. I am deeply depressed; {Psalms 42:5-6}
3: WE GRIEVE IN SOLITUDE AND WITH OTHERS
Then he withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, knelt down, and began to pray, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup away from me — nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”
Being in anguish, he prayed more fervently, and his sweat became like drops of blood falling to the ground. When he got up from prayer and came to the disciples, he found them sleeping, exhausted from their grief. {Luke 22:41-42; 44-45}
Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another. {Romans 12:15-16}
4: WE GRIEVE WITH HOPE
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; grief, crying, and pain will be no more, because the previous things have passed away. {Revelation 21:4}
