My wife and I (Danny) had the great privilege of visiting LifeChurch.tv Albany. It's about a 3 hour drive north from Brooklyn. We were excited about this visit to see and experience an actual LifeChurch.tv campus. This was especially important to us because Swerve Church is a Network Church which is a ministry of LifeChurch.tv. Network Churches use LifeChurch.tv's resources and messages weekly as part of their worship experiences in order to reach more people for Christ. Our experience there was unbelievable. We were overwhelmed by their love and hospitality from the moment we pulled up to the entrance to the church until we drove off back to the hotel. We were impacted by everything. From the awesome worship to the heartfelt message from Pastor Craig Groeschel on the big screen. My wife and I were able to take away so much from this experience and will apply much of what we've learned to Swerve Church. I'm so grateful for their generosity in taking out time from their extremely busy and hectic Sunday schedule to sit down with my wife and I to speak with and encourage us. We're looking forward to returning this summer to learn even more!

Pastor Craig has been preaching a great series called "Bless This Home". It's a series based on the beatitudes. How timely and relevant this series has been! We're living in a time and age where family as we know it is very much broken. This is especially true in Bushwick Brooklyn where many homes are fatherless, divorced or struggling. "We are not a Christian family-we are a Christ-centered home." - Craig Groeschel In this series, Pastor Craig takes four of the beatitudes and challenges us to apply them to our families. They are:

We're currently forming a group of people that want to see this vision come to pass. We'll be meeting during the months leading up to the launch to discuss the progress of the church plant, to strategize different various evangelistic outreaches, and also to come together to pray for one another and the church plant. If you think this is something you'd like to be a part of, or even if you'd like to know more about the vision and the church plant,we'd love to discuss it with you over coffee. E-mail me: [email protected] Our vision for planting Swerve Church is to create a life-giving church where we can introduce people to God’s saving grace through Jesus. We also want to be a church that goes beyond the four walls of a building and serves our community in practical ways being the hands and feet of Jesus. Here are a few reasons why we are focusing our attention on Bushwick:
If you want to see a neighborhood and a borough transformed, consider joining our launch team. Swerve Church is a new Church Plant coming to the Bushwick / Williamsburg section of Brooklyn. Our mission is to lead people to become fully devoted followers of Jesus. We're committed to the capital "C" church because we know we can do infinitely more together than apart. We will do anything short of sin to reach people far from God because to reach people that no one is reaching, we need to do things that no one is doing. We are a part of NetworkChurches.tv. We hope to launch in April of 2014.
Swerve Church is a new church plant coming to Brooklyn. We have plans on opening up by Spring 2013. WHAT IS SWERVE? The definition of "swerve" is: an abrupt change in direction. This is what we want to see in the lives of the people in Brooklyn and throughout NYC. We want to see people change direction off a road to destruction and on to the path that leads to life in Christ Jesus. WHY ANOTHER CHURCH?! After all, aren't there enough?! Well...statistically, that is not true. It may seem as if there is a church on every block but statistically, Brooklyn is still largely unreached. New churches replenish and revive a community, and can even create a spark in older, more established churches to return to more outreach and evangelism. WHY BROOKLYN? Brooklyn is the most populated borough in NYC with over 2.5 million people calling it home. It has also become a cultural hub of sorts with a great increase of artists, musicians and young professionals moving in. Add that to sprouting coffee shops, bars and restaurants, Brooklyn is quite the happening place to be. Besides the cultural popularity that Brooklyn has gained as of late, there is also a great spiritual need to be met in Brooklyn. People have grown colder to the things of God. Many do not want to have nothing to do with the traditional church. For this reason we feel called to come in to Brooklyn and lead people to |
